Tuesday, April 29, 2008, 4:43:49 PM zergwatch@stiltonco.com (Zergwatch)
Microsoft Corp. violated a patent to produce its Xbox video game player, a lawyer for Alcatel-Lucent SA told a federal jury. "Their customers demanded it, so they put it in their products," said John Desmarais, an attorney for a patent trust that lists Alcatel-Lucent as a 99 percent beneficiary. "They make billions of dollars in profits on the products that are made with our technology."

GTA Hooker Beauty Contest
Tuesday, April 29, 2008, 1:48:11 AM zergwatch@stiltonco.com (Zergwatch)
Heroes, cities and decades change, but in the world of Grand Theft Auto, the hard-working hooker will forever remain. No matter what the year or console, we can always count on her to patrol our virtual streets and stir up our real world controversy. Isn't it time, then, that this beloved gaming icon received the spotlight she deserves? And more importantly, isn't it fun to laugh at really cruddy last-gen graphics? We think so. ...
A complete history of Grand Theft Auto
Tuesday, April 29, 2008, 1:47:01 AM zergwatch@stiltonco.com (Zergwatch)
Crime doesn’t pay. But virtual crime? That does pay. And by the bucket-load. Even by the time the series reached Florida, it was breaking records in a major way, with Vice City becoming the fastest-selling PS2 title ever - until San Andreas beat it. And that’s despite four million Americans pre-ordering Vice City, and a million more buying it upon its release (here in the UK, the Miami Vice-vibed title shifted over a quarter of ...
Future Proof Status For Xbox 360 And PS3
Today, April 28, 2008, 8 hours ago zergwatch@stiltonco.com (Zergwatch)
This topic has been discussed many times in the past. Come to think of it, this topic never seems to fade from the spotlight when discussing Microsoft and Sony’s mammoth console machines, the Xbox 360 and PS3. What’s interesting about this topic is that a lot of people were quick to side in the way of the PlayStation 3 when it was first released as being “future proof”. The Xbox 360's multi-use of a standard DVD player with the option of attaching an external HD-DVD made it look like it was outdated before it was properly out of the gate. However, during these crucial times of the format wars (and the economy) Microsoft may have played it safe for future-proofing the Xbox 360 more than a lot of people think.
IGN Compares GTAIV for the PS3 and 360
Today, April 28, 2008, 8 hours ago zergwatch@stiltonco.com (Zergwatch)
IGN has just posted a video that compares both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV. They mention that the Xbox 360 version does have more vibrant colors and that the Playstation 3 version has slightly better load times. They also mention that the Playstation 3 version has SIXAXIS support.
Kotaku - GTA IV: Which Version Should You Buy?
Today, April 28, 2008, 8 hours ago zergwatch@stiltonco.com (Zergwatch)
It was inevitable. With the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 competing for the "next-gen" first place spot, both armed with Grand Theft Auto IV shipping day and date, nitpicking comparisons between each version was expected from vocal fans. Rockstar Games has commented multiple times that both versions are identical, minus a few platform specific features and Xbox 360 exclusives. Kotaku has played both versions of GTA IV, quite a bit, actually. They've noticed a handful of differences, some of which you know, some which you may not. They break it down, from frame rate to controls, after the break.

Bioshock Coming To PS3 This September?
Today, April 28, 2008, 8 hours ago zergwatch@stiltonco.com (Zergwatch)
It's been long rumored that Bioshock would eventually make the leap from the Xbox 360 to the PS3. After all, 2K Boston's critically acclaimed title moved from the console to the PC, and a code snippet found in configuration files for that port last year listed PS3 settings. Now, according to the upcoming issue of EGM, the move to Sony's system could be coming this fall.

Joystiq impressions: Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant (Wii)
Today, April 28, 2008, 9 hours ago zergwatch@stiltonco.com (Zergwatch)
Filed under: Nintendo DS, Sony PlayStation 2, Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, Action, Adventure, Galleries Crash Bandicoot returns for another platforming adventure in October, 2008. The boisterous character again has the power to ride defeated enemies, using their special abilities. For example, before crossing a lake, he might force a frost-breathing creature to freeze it solid. Other times, he might roll on top of a spherical enemy over ramps, like a Sonic or Billy Hatcher. But unlike the previous Crash, players can carry along a favorite enemy at all times. This way, gamers can defeat an immediate puzzle, but still retain the abilities of another, go-to creature.I recently tried Radical's Wii version of the in-development title. The team is building for the Wii first, and essentially scaling the graphics up for the 360 and down for the PS2. This approach gives the Wii title a finished sheen that beats most others Wii games. (Multi-platform games often scale PS2 graphics up to the Wii, but don't truly utilize the hardware.) Crash seemed fun; its bright graphics and light tone should attract its kid-targeted audience.Gallery: Crash Bandicoot: Mind over MutantContinue reading Joystiq impressions: Crash Bandicoot: Mind over Mutant (Wii)Permalink Email this Comments
